The question in this issue is not whether a corporation is a human being, but whether natural persons, each undeniably with the right of free speech & press, can join together & pool their resources in legally recognized associations, in order to produce & disseminate messages on issues such as political issues in play, and even the relative merits of candidates for office. E.g. the nonprofit org Citizens United, Inc. Such corporations exist for purposes of conducting legit business as an entity on behalf of stakeholders, with certain attributes such as ability to own property & enter into contracts in its own name, & to shield individuals from most civil liability arising from the association's activities.

US REPRESENTATIVE JIM MCGOVERN, a Worcester Democrat, generated some unwanted controversy two years ago when he publicly declared: "The Constitution is wrong."

The context was a discussion of campaign finance during a debate between McGovern and his Republican challenger, Marty Lamb. "A lot of the campaign-finance laws we've passed have been declared unconstitutional by the Supreme Court," McGovern said. "I think the Constitution is wrong. I don't think money … equals free speech. I don't think corporations should have the same equality as a regular voter."
