Are you Loyal Democrat incognito? The Laffer Curve applies basically to invest/don't invest decisions. It's based on effective tax rates however arrived at. The higher the effective tax rate, the fewer investments get made, period. A higher threshold is set for rate of return to end up with a given minimum after-tax return. More investments won't make the cut & thus won't happen. How are you going to make it illegal to just decline to make investments less than x% rate of return, except by creating a totalitarian government that will do all the investing? The Soviet Union tried it, which is why it's an economic powerhouse with a hi std of living today! Right?

I am aware of his posts. Traditional satire requires subtlety and intelligence. LoyalDemocrat displays neither. His posts come off as goonish and simplistic. If you like that you must LOVE Tina Fey doing Sarah Palin on Saturday Night Live, right?

Actually, iForward, it wasn't an insult. "LoyalDemocrat" is a satirist that posts here sometimes, positing forth an argument from a neo-lib "progressive" perspective, often using their own talking points, but in such a way as to sound "logical" and "reasonable". Long time posters here don't take the bait, knowing it's satire, but there is always one or two newer people that bite, and blast at him. Funny. But no insult, to be sure.

LoyalDemocrat? Nice insult.
If everyone in America had read Stephen Moore's new book, "Who's The Fairest of Them All?", Barack Obama would have lost the election in a landslide.

The point here is not to say, "Where was Stephen Moore when we needed him?" A more apt question might be, "Where was the whole economics profession when we needed them?" Where were the media? For that matter, where were the Republicans?

Since "Who's The Fairest of Them All?" was published in October, there was little chance that it would affect this year's election. But this little gem of a book exposes,...
