I am a senior citizen and enjoying life at the moment with some help from a very competent home health aide. If I reach the point of nursing home care, I'd rather be dead and be done with it. I don't need Obama's death panels to convince me I don't want to live out my life as a turnip _ not that all nursing home residents have taken leave of their senses. Some are simply too frail to live alone and all should be protected from abuse by staff members and, on occasion, by fellow residents who have dementia.

In my corner of the USA, I cannot receive NPR. As for public television, I occasionally watch dramas, usually imports from the UK, but I can easily live without them. Save money, I say.

Whilst I don't agree with Stossel much of the time, I find him thougt-provoking, as was his article on controlling his stuttering. As an earlier poster said, he condensed the meat of the story into a lively column instead of a boring book.

In my little Maine mill town, I and others own handguns for self defense and for the sport of target shooting. If, God forbid, I had to kill someone who broke into my house and threatened my life, the odds strongly favor it being another white guy. If there is interracial crime here, it's generally because of drugs, not race.

As is often the case, Ms. Malkin is correct. There is no indication the killer of a 9-year-old girl, a respected federal judge and the attempted killer of a Congresswoman even knew what talk radio and Fox News are. Neither was it the extended magazine, the Glock pistol, or the location of Ms. Giffords' Congress on the Corner to blame. It was Jared Lee Loughner, pure and simple, a man who was quite crazy, although not necessarily criminally insane.

My state, Maine, used to limit hard liquor sales to state liquor stores and the rare "agency store," usually a grocery in a small town. Now, state stores are no more and groceries and convenience stores sell whisky, vodka, gin, etc. along with beer and wine. The problem is if one lives in a small town, because of limited shelf space, only the most popular brands for the region are sold. I'd like to find some legal moonshine, which I know is produced and sold in Tennessee. It's not even on the wholesaler's list, so a store manager can't put in a special order even if he wants to.

I have known folks I was sure were gay and instead they were married with a fairly large family. I have also known men and women where the men were totally masculine and the women were beautiful, petite and feminine, and guess what, those men and women were homosexuals. Doug Giles is playing off stereotypes completely. Yes, there are reasons to question gays in the military and the commandant of the Marine Corps has made them. If we oppose gays in the Armed Forces, lets use logic, not stereotypes.
