John: You said "As to Walmart putting small businesses out of business, that may be true. But they also provide consumers with much lower prices on goods, That’s actually good for the economy." I agree 100%. But why is it that Democrats and Republicans alike complain about the US to China Exchange Rate? Am I the only one who thinks that a weak Chinese Yuan helps the consumer and therefore helps the economy.

Don8475, you are not the only one. The Chinese work hard, send us all kinds of products in exchange for our paper money. A great deal for us, until of course when they stop.

It is not so much the "weak Chinese Yuan" as it is a strong U.S. Dollar as it relates to American producer/consumers, who are not necessarily world investors who speculate on currency exchange rates. The debt and deficit spending weakens the Dollar, scarcity of domestic resources weakens the Dollar. Low domestic production weakens the Dollar. The shorter the life the Dollar has in circulation the weaker the Dollar. Low prices on goods is only good if there isn't a shared debt among producer/consumers in order to sustain consumers and their advocates who created the debt by speculating the unrepresented future will pay it--further weakening the Dollar. It is a Soro's Snowball.

Walmart hires many more people than it puts out of business. While the weak money in China helps, Walmart buys in vast quanitites, no matter where the items originate.

But the question was small businesses and entrepreneurs.

OK, so there are many readers who have better things to do than enjoy Townhall Finance on Sundays.

I can't imagine that's true but, then I don't understand a world that celebrates Ralph Nader, Jerry Brown or Donald Trump- yet alone takes them seriously politically.

I guess it's true however that my Sunday readers enjoy what long-time readers call Email, Hate Mail and Comments from Readers. It's what we orginally called my Sunday mailbag piece until I stopped being lazy and came up with new names for it every Sunday.

I republish last Sunday's edition here so that those of you busy filling out...
