I work with a an Obama supporter... he claims to me Republicans need to compromise... Can't wait to show him this article...
Perhaps you are looking at this the wrong way. Many of those we elect to serve, spend their time raising money to get relected. You need to find a way to make them do their jobs, so the next election is based on job preformance, rather than 'bringing home the bacon.' A good elected rep doesn't give a hoot about the next election Senator Proxmire, WI-D, raised $249.00 for his last campaign, He won. Why? A well known fiscal concervative, with the people's money. Paul Ryan is the same way, willing to 'live or die' based on his ideas no bacon for the district he represents.
I would also look at how many people have signed for and are receiving SS today, compared to the last 10 years prior to Obama. People leaving the work force due to retirement, vs. those entering the workforce, gollege grads, high school grads, etc. At some point, I would guess we'd have a lot of numbers, which should tell us something. To sum this up, my goal would be to determine how many people are working today, vs. the number of people working prior to Obama.
Who is looking for work and who is not? That is the question? I would look at how many people were in the work force, people paying income taxes on a state level, on the federal level in each of the past 10 years, assuming records exist.. I would look at how many business' were reporting incomes taxes, paying SS/Medicare taxes to the federal government and for how many workers, for the last 10 years. I would average those numbers (or not) and compare those numbers to the numbers we have today, for of the various taxes collected, related to wages paid to working people. I would look at tax revenue for a 10 year period prior to January 20, 2008 and compare those numbers with tax revenues collect since Jan 2008.
"Questions for you: Who is really paying the tax and what do you do if you are the owner? " One thing I remember most about commentator Paul Harvey is something he said, "Corporations don't pay taxes, people pay taxes." He was right... Too bad the 'tax the rich' crowd has such a hard time understanding who really pays taxes.

The worst thing that could happen, is that we lose sight of the clown before us and become too confident. The 2nd worst thing that could happen, if that we fail to make the case for our guy and Obama wins a 2nd term... Maybe I have those backwards in the eyes of some... either way the fight ain't over until he is voted out and then moved out of the White House... Tell your friends, make sure they know the record and that they vote....

Please, will somebody tell me what 'fair share' means to a millionaire? Please, will somebody tell me how much is fair? Please, will somebody tell me who among the 1% is paying more than the IRS tax code requires? (Who failed to use all the tax deducts allowed by law?) I am really tired of hearing about 'fair share' and 'fairness', without somebody defining what is what, so I have a point of reference... Who knows I might just agree with you, IF you define the words and concepts you are talking about. In the mean time if you feel you ain't paying enough, write a check. Lead by example. And until you write and mail that check, SHUT UP!
What I see is that 419 of our elected reps vote yea or nay for the Paul Ryan budget, while 16 didn't show up for work... As somebody in the private sector, it's kinda of important I make an appearance at my place of employment on daily basis... By showing up for work, I will have MORE money to support the out of control federal spending... By the way, I am not part of the 1%... and I don't support the crazies who violate laws, while claiming to speak for me. To sum this up, 16 people who want our respect and our paychecks, did nothing to earn theirs... perhaps they should seek employment elsewhere...
