The problem, as Thomas Sowell has stated repeatedly, is that politicians main concerns are re-election and not what is good for the economy as a whole. The average American unfortunately is economically illiterate and falls for political panderers every time.

Notice that when Dworkin makes his mewling case in favor of the "Act" as he prefers to Deify it, he uses the phrase "national program" twice and "national remedy" once. He also calls American health care "unjust". Health care is neither just or unjust, it is (in spite of the wish of people that it were otherwise) a market, an inanimate thing that is subject to market forces, and the laws of supply and demand. Only people are just or unjust, and Statists like Obama and Dworkin are particularly unjust, believing it is their right to subject the rest of us by force into participating in their notional "national remedy".
