Your column is a downer during a time out in the world. The Olympics are the days of sporting events where the world puts aside its troubles and tries to act nice to everyone by competing in non-consequential ways. At the end everyone goes home feeling better for awhile. Eventually we carry on with our lives for better or for worse. Bringing politics into the Olympics is the last thing we want to do. You hate Russia? Stop watching the Olympics while the rest of us enjoy the civility of athletics for a short while.
ABC doesn't need to present stats on how guns save lives. They are doing a story on the safety (or lack of it) of guns when curious children are around. Even some of the parents were surprised that the kids knew where the guns were. I think the story was to show the need for keep guns locked up or at least secure from children finding them.

I thought the video was hilarious. It shows that arming everybody does not solve anything. In fact, it looks like it could get the people watching and the shooter (dropping the weapon) killed. Where's Forrest Gump when you need him?
Turn it over to Disneyland! Let them make a ghetto amusement area out of it to raise money. Folks can come to ride through a city that is living proof of where bad government can lead us. It's the 'Small World' of the future!

The integrity was already slipping. Woodward and Bernstein just righted the ship momentarily.

Not a big Woodward fan, but in this instance I believe he has found the root of the problem with the Obama administration. The deck of cards may fold yet.

This sounds like something even Yogi Berra would say. I think you are right on and the U.S. had better hope that things stay at least even.
In general, I think you hit the topic right on the money. We are not going to be another Europe unless we continue to try and spend our way out of the financial crisis. Many programs offered by the Feds are worthy attempts to make improvements. Yet, in most cases those running the programs treat the funding like free money. Don't get me started on the jobs core and after school programs - what a waste.

I'm not a weather man, but I know which way the wind blows and when to put on or take off a jacket. This is going to be a bumpy four year ride. Buckle up your seat belts.
The national budget is just what a bunch of crack pots would formulate. This was a great column! Very nicely summarized to explain the problem of fiscal responsibility in Washington. BO and Harry just are can kickers and the general public is the can.
