Could marijuana exacerbate mental illness? Probably. But so does alcohol. Does marijuana cause mental illness? I don't think there has ever been a study proving that.
Steve539 Wrote: Nov 18, 2012 9:07 AM
NurseRoy, in your last sentence above, you should have stopped after the first three words, "I don't think", and you would have been correct again!!!
BK22 Wrote: Nov 18, 2012 8:16 AM
But there have been studies that indicate that marijuana is a gateway drug to other drugs. Besides, is the answer to alcohol does it too...a reason to add another destructor in the mix?

You are missing the point. It's not the government's job to protect people from themselves right? At least that is what I see here all the time. As long as you are not harming anyone else I don't care. Just like I don't care who you marry. As long as they are human of course.

What do you have against beings from Vega III, Roy?
DoctorRoy Wrote: Nov 18, 2012 9:38 AM
Nothing, Earl. They are cool.

So then the same applies if for some outlandish reason such as being hooked on the next step drug that you never seek treatment covered by medicare or medicaid or the VA...right?

Currently if you have an auto accident involving injuries, alcohol testing is given to the drivers. The same is true with many industrial accidents. You can smell alcohol on your breath for a period of time, not so with marijuana, the smell dissipates long before the effects. Have you ever worked with a marijuana user? Until the responsibility and the ability to assign blame for drug use injuries and accidents can be readily determined, I must vote in favor of continuing the current policy. I know of no Tea Party, Republican, or Conservative who promotes environmental damage. I've never seen a business plan supporting environmental damage.

I do have a problem with the current fines against BP for Deepwater, BP did NOT design, build, own or operate the platform. It was leased to BP, the only reason the EPA went after BP was because of Deep Pockets. Finally, what is the EPA going to do with the money? Reduce next years budget request? Clean up the Gulf? Assist the people affected by the spill? Have a great business as usual party in some expensive resort? I bet even you can answer the above correctly. In fact, I bet even the "poorly educated conservatives" can even answer the questions.

See I think Senor Ransom is going with his gut on this one. Careful John. That got you in trouble a couple of weeks ago.

Can alcohol stay in the body for years. No.
DoctorRoy Wrote: Nov 18, 2012 7:46 AM
I don't see your point We.
Earl29 Wrote: Nov 18, 2012 7:56 AM
I hate to go out on a limb, Roy, but I think Wehavemettheenemy is implying that Marijuana does stay in the body for years.
Wehavemettheenemy Wrote: Nov 18, 2012 7:57 AM
I thought we were just stating random facts.
DoctorRoy Wrote: Nov 18, 2012 8:13 AM
Random facts or Ransom facts?
DoctorRoy Wrote: Nov 18, 2012 8:23 AM
Well since it is fat soluble it does stay in the body longer, Earl. I don't know about years but I still don't see the point. The psychotropic effects don't last for years. The problem I have with right wingers on this issue is that you guys want the government to regulate what individuals put in their own bodies but want to give corporations carte blanche to spew any and all toxins into the air and water where innocent people are effected. I don't give a rat's behind what someone does to their own body but when you poison other people for profit that's where I would draw the line.
Earl29 Wrote: Nov 18, 2012 8:54 AM
Legalizing drugs is fine by me as long as taxpayers don't have to pay for the consequences, Roy. If using drugs leads to bad consequences the user must pay for the consequences including punishment for harming others. I would not let people poison others even if no profit was involved.
DoctorRoy Wrote: Nov 18, 2012 9:01 AM
Steve539 Wrote: Nov 18, 2012 9:04 AM
NurseRoy, the word should be "affected" and not "effected". Had you said the "effect of people being affected by toxins", then you would have been correct, but you are a leftist and never correct. Lastly, you said "The problem with you right wingers is that you want the government to regulate what individuals put in their own bodies...". Do you mean like Bloomberg in NY on the 64 oz. drinks or Moochelle Obama on lunches for kids? I didn't know they were right wingers! NurseRoy, every time you use your keyboard you stick it in your mouth!!!

One point is that alcohol causes massive death and violence every year with drunk drivers, alcoholism, domestic violence, and crimes under the influence. Marijuana will do the same. Now we will have all the problems with alcohol added to the same ones with people under the influence of marijuana. This is nuts.
JMWinPR Wrote: Nov 18, 2012 11:30 AM
Corporations spewing toxic waste?. Have you read the recent stories resulting from Sandy? Specifically where a New Jersey municipality is dumping raw sewerage into New York harbor, and is going to continue to do so for a period of time. That to me seems just as bad as Deepwater Horizon. Do you really think this municipality is going to fined anything?
It would be wonderful, if you stopped your vitriolic comments, attacking the messenger and used your God given talents to offer a solution.

Where did you 'learn' that marijuana would do the same damage as alcohol? From Reefer Madness? There is no study that concludes such drivel. The fact is that the government needed a Constitutional amendment to control alcohol and that was recinded. They have no authority under the Constitution to regulate any drug, or plant for that matter.

Dear Comrade Boy Georgia,

You’re right about Obama wanting to bring taxes to historic levels, although like most liberals you don’t understand what you are saying. Still, rest assured, if you did understand what you said about taxes at historic levels, you’d be for that too.
