Your myopic view of Constitutional History doesn’t hold water. Read Article IV, read the Federalist papers, and see how simplistic all those debates were… It was really a miracle that the thing was even past. I agree that it has been greatly expanded, but you are missing the whole point by trying to dismiss reality.

And the states don’t decide those unalienable rights… They are unalienable (look that word up). What government gives, government can take away. State or Federal… it doesn’t matter. If the state government infringes on your unalienable rights, it is still violating your rights.

The point is that this nominee is beyond “just abortion.” I can be pro-choice, but I don't want people who believe it is morally wrong to violate their conscience and pay for my abortions. I don't want the goverment forcing me to do something I consider morally wrong, so I draw a line there.

Same thing with partial birth abortion. Many pro-choice people realize that with that procedure a line is crossed, and Dawn Johnsen still supports that. I believe I saw a poll where over 80 percent of Americans are against that practice.

Actually, I believe the President also supported partial birth abortion at some point, but I think he doesn’t anymore…...

This article is immensely important. But republicans and conservatives, with their myopic views, will never see the value in it. We’ll continue to focus on “Sotomayor lied. And we lost anyway, she got confirmed.” That’s why we are in the minority and our culture continues on a great moral decline, no matter who’s in power.

Was it Andrew Fletcher who said something like, “Let me make the songs of a nation, and I care not who makes its laws…”?

It is a great victory when we are able to shame them into lying about their ideas. That means they do not think Americans will buy it. I don’t need to point out the many, many, many, things that were shameful for people at one time, and today we see them every day…
