God and Jeb at CPAC

As a veteran of the Reagan revolution who has watched the movement be co-opted by Bushism and has watched the new Rockefeller Republicans, as represented by Karl Rove and his lackey's in the pretend conservative media, INCLUDING FOX NEWS, seek to re-define conservatism to mean whatever they want it to mean and whatever suits their political purpose, I must say this column was a real breath of fresh air and I hope people will heed its wisdom. As for Fox News, even Hannity was sucking up to Jeb Bush last night, and its been quite embarrassing watching him suck up to Karl Rove too, or as Hannity affectionately calls him, "the architect", and he shilled for Romney during the primaries too. He knows not to bite the hand (FNC) that feeds him.

I echo your thoughts on Hannity, the master suck up to GOP status quo statist. I thought I was the only one nauseated by his reverence for "the architect." Architect of what? Ever expanding government?

Also let me state very clearly that Mark Levin is the intellectual force behind the conservative movement today, and he should be offered an honored speaking slot at CPAC every year without fail. His books have re-energized the conservative movement in much the same fashion that Phyllis Schlafly's "A Choice Not An Echo" kicked off the Goldwater campaign which morphed into the Reagan revolution.

So how he is not an honored speaker at CPAC is beyond me, but its something CPAC had better fix, and fast, or they rightfully stand the risk of becoming just another tool of the establishment as Craig Shirley suggested.

Dobermite.. I am in total agreement with you about FAUX NEWS. I clicked them 'off' three years ago when I realized it was just a phony 'dog and pony show' that was going thru the motions of being a legitimate outlet for the conservative viewpoint. FAUX NEWS is all about stirring mock outrage against those 'baaa-d progressives', and keep their conservative viewers 'riled up' and the pot stirring, without providing any solutions or intelligent directions for the conservative viewpoint. Also, the fact FAUX NEWS includes such worthies as Bob "I Luv Che Guevara" Beckel and Juan Williams as regular contributers totally negates its conservative bona fides.

Andy, even worse than Beckel and Williams, because at least they are clear about who they are as well as their intentions, so I can live with the leftist POV from these two characters, but even worse, much worse, is that Fox News has given Karl Rove, the sworn enemy of the Tea Party and authentic Reagan conservatives, a massive forum by which he can pursue our demise, and the guy is on every show, they have basically given him the run of the place and none of his colleagues ever challenge him in any meaningful way, including Hannity.

Ironically the only person at Fox to look Rove in the eye and call him what he is was Bob Woodward, a left leaning journalist, but he's the only one to tell Rove he is behaving like a Soviet apparatchik.

John McCain’s presidential campaign manager from four years ago, Steve Schmidt, has compared the upcoming Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC) to the “Star Wars bar scene.”

Reflecting on the dysfunctional 2008 freak show that passed for a campaign against Barack Obama, Mr. Schmidt would know.

The conference’s problem, for many longtime participants, is not the diversity and raucous freedom one might expect to find in a social club on an alien planet. The quandary is that what is now the largest gathering of conservative activists in the nation has wandered far from its original intent, which was a rejection...
