As usual, Dr. Sowell writes the truth backed by facts. The US Treasury has not had control of the money supply since passage of the infamous Federal Reserve Act of 1913, which was passed under dubious Constitutional authority. Doubt me? Read the Congressional Record pertaining to the bill. Very interesting reading. It is my opinion, along with many others, that what happened in the Weimer Republic during the 1920's was nothing more than an accelerated experiment conducted by the proponents of the New World Order to see what the effects of massive inflation would have on the economy of a country. With all the talk about taxing the rich, we hear very little talk about taxing the poor. Yet the marginal tax rate on someone living in poverty can sometimes be higher than the marginal tax rate on millionaires.

While it is true that nearly half the households in the country pay no income tax at all, the apparently simple word "tax" has many complications that can be a challenge for even professional economists to untangle.
