Where it will end is the death of America! I refuse to call liberals 'progressive', especially when they throw up the 'slavery card'. Libs were always (and will always be, in my opinion) on the wrong side of the whole 'Jim Crowe' issue. Their insistence otherwise is their greatest lie. The GOP was formed to fight their bigotry and civil wrongs. Conservatives backed the suffrage and civil rights issues, not the libs. As to labor unions, their time as a force for 'good' is long over. Now they are nothing more than a small bunch of fat-cats forcing people into their own form of slavery by lies and threats, using liberal judges and political graft.
Not being critical Bernard83. I'm a fan of much other than political debate and I agree that we need to concentrate mainly on political issues. However, I don't think ours or John's (or any other pundit's) occasional diversion to a lighter issue compares to the fall of the Roman Empire. If anything compares to it in that way, it would be issues like never-ending government investigations of steroid use in sports, the media's refusal to air anything but 'light' topics when discussing Obama and, of course, the whole "Life Of Julia" crap that's all the rage today. Meanwhile Obama continues his plans to 'fundamentally change' the greatest country in the world.

I'm with you on that 'two sides of the same coin' thing, Doc. But yeah, since Mitt will be the nominee, he's my guy. Had it been Santorum then 'Go Rick!' or Newt, or even Paul. ANYONE would be better that Obama. Heck, I'd vote Hillary before Obama, and that's saying something.

You have a point there, Steven. I whole-heartedly agree that there is little difference between the parties in the respect you cite. Altruism is not the guiding light of many of the INDIVIDUALS of both parties, (maybe most of them). The real difference I see is that Republicans are vastly more responsive to the wishes of We the People. (Even Clinton moderated his policies when it appeared that the public disapproved of his actions. It's why he was so successful, in the pinch, he gave Americans what they wanted. Not so Obama). Republican politicians are little different from Democrat politicians yes, but conservative ideology is MUCH more 'pro-people-as-a-whole' than liberal ideology.
Good analysis, Panda. Food for thought!

danr27, you're probably right, I haven't done the research like you obviously have. But does nit-picking one point invalidate the argument? William's aim was the empowerment and protection of all blacks. In the whole of historical fact, his personal political views don't enter into the equation. Whatever his own aims, his actions helped blacks to come closer to the equality they looked for.
We forgive you...
Ms Kelly, I have little doubt that Governor Brewer will strike this down. If we 'pajama pundits' can see the danger, Gov. Brewer, with her finger more firmly on the pulse of current politics, can see it, too. She has already shown herself to be a true conservative. I'm sure she'll do the right thing.
I find it incredible that the law is being pushed by liberals of any ideology. Considering the constant hate speech on sites like Daily Kos and Huff Post as well as the libs and MSM's tacit acceptance of withering name calling on the part of people like Bill Maher and others, it's difficult to imagine them backing a law that criminalizes liberals' main debating technique.
