Why is it when someone is sent to Washington, their brain suddenly begins to function like Elmer's Glue? The Federal gun background check, in its current form, is about a useful as teats on a boar pig. I have not heard one legislator suggest that our current firearms background check procedure should be overhauled before we proceed with increasing the number of people required to submit to the process. The carnage which occurred at Aurora Colorado and Newtown Connecticut would not have been prevented with this legislation in place. As usual, America's "feel good" populace is foaming at the mouth, attempting to convince the not so stupid, background checks are this country's salvation. Toomey, what happened to your brains?

Sens. Pat Toomey (R-PA) and Joe Manchin(D-WV) have reached a deal on expanding background checks. Firearms purchases at guns shows, on the internet or “any circumstance involving paid advertising” would be subject to background checks but there would be important exemptions, such as temporary transfers and between close relatives.
