Can't mainstream America hear the words of Linda Chavez, truly a wise Latina woman? Why won't the congressmen and women holding these hearings address these truly serious concerns? Why will we allow truly good candidates to be hammered and tortured in this process for no good reason, but allow someone like Sotomayor to basically pass through with a handslap for her egregious behaviour on the bench?

I don't live in CA, but I just sent her an email reminding her of many of the points made in these comments. She didn't work hard to get where she is, she spent lots of other people's campaign money to get there. Brig General Walsh worked hard to "get there." In my opinion, he outranks her in every way, and certainly showed it by his mannerly acceptance of her rudeness. She owes him and every member of the military a public apology. Sounds like our elected officials need to take a course in gracious treatment of others.
