why do you have to even water-down what is an "Abomination" to God? If God is for the USA, and the USA honors what is Abominable to God, then who on earth would even consider making legal benefits for "dogs"? They surely show their anals on line!

disaiah: Your argument would work for more orthodox Christians. However there are many good Christians and decent non-Christians (and, yes, you can be a good person who holds beliefs other than Christian) who need a more contemporary line of reason in these matters, such as Bill's. There are plenty of good reasons to draw the line on gay marriage, not the least of which is the overall negative effect that this will have on religious freedom and the traditional family structure, which are already in serious danger due to other liberal policies.

A well-liked, Christian man in England had his salary reduced by 40% after posting a comment on his Facebook page in which he stated that the government should not force churches to perform same-sex “marriage” ceremonies. And a Christian couple running a bed and breakfast in their family home in England was fined almost $6,000 for hurting the feelings of a gay couple by refusing to rent a room to them. The headline to Amanda Platell’s report on the first of these two cases said it all: “The real hate crime is persecuting a decent man for his beliefs.”
