Teachers' Union Pres on Christie: American Schools "Have The Best Scores We've Ever Had"

Exactly, lmarklin. My wife has been an elementary school teacher for 25 years. 4 years ago, she quit the Union and when they have contacted her about rejoining, she tells them that they only exist for the mediocre to poor performing teachers. Their comment is that she is enjoying the fruits of their collective bargaining power so she should "pay back" something. To which she replies, if it weren't for the Union and collective bargaining, she would be making much much more because schools would be willing to pay more for the very good teachers. That ends the discussion every time.

Great. Unions care nothing about education and the only teachers that need an union is the incompetent ones. Schools need good teachers and are willing to pay for them.

American Federation Teachers (AFT) President, Randi Weingarten tries to stick her finger in the teachers' union dike. She's responding to Chris Christie's powerful comment during his RNC keynote that the Democrats love teachers' unions but Republicans love teachers.
