Are you that naive after all these years? Islam is profoundly anti-American, subversive, 90% of their mosques are Saudi funded and preach extremism and hate. Islam is in a killing war in over 50 countries of the world murdering and terrorizing Jews, Christians, other Muslims, Buddhists, Hindus, Atheists and animists. Sharia is de facto law of the land in the U.S. already as, via classic methods of terror, the media and even common people, dare not speak the truth about Islam and all the misery and horror it has brought on itself and the world. It is a very VERY special case. A matter of survival. To compare the very sensible fear of Islam with anti-Catholic bigotry is beyond naive.

The Bogus Threat from Shariah Law

In the 19th century, Catholicism was regarded by many people in this country as thoroughly incompatible with Americanism. They saw it as a hostile foreign element that would subvert democracy. Today, a majority of the justices on the Supreme Court are Catholic, and they are taken to be as American as Mountain Dew.

We've come a long way in religious tolerance. Or maybe not. The belief that Catholics are irredeemably alien and disloyal has given way to the fear that Muslims pose a mortal threat to our way of life.

That distrust is behind a push in state legislatures...
