It is amazing how many people think they are doing blacks a favor by exempting them from standards that others are expected to meet. Worth repeating! While in the military, we were all expected to meet certain standards...and we did! There is absolutely no reason to hold their standards apart from others. We convinced them that they are the exception and we allow the to extend this attitude. The riots are a perfect example. I am really surprised that more have not been killed.

Paying a lousy teacher more money won't improve her teaching. That seems to be the solution that's most prevalent.

Anyone think that the VA is undermanned and underfunded? I also agree with the comments about unionization. Very poor bureaucratic oversight and control. Heads don't roll as fast as they should.

The High Cost of Liberalism: Part II

Dick 2992 Wrote: Apr 23, 2014 11:41 AM
In case you all haven't noticed, we are going through a period of Military sequestration. That means we are reducing our forces to the point where most of us wonder whether we can even defend our country against one enemy let alone two. Before we entered WWII, we elected to increase our armed forces. War games were held. Soldiers were carrying broom sticks instead of guns. Trucks carried signs on them saying "tank". We had no equipment nor could we have gone into battle during that period. Fortunately for us, we were far enough away from the conflict in "splendid isolation" and could begin to rebuild our forces without interference. That cannot happen today. We live in a much smaller world than existed in the late 1930s. Conflict, which during that period would have been months away, is now only minutes from our doorstep. Don't listen to the liberal mantra that our military is costing us too much money. Granted, there are areas of waste that need to be addressed. By my reckoning, the military is no worse than the civilian side in waste and certainly not near as bad as the bribery and corruption found on the bureaucratic side of government. In fact, the per cent of GNP allocated to our national defense is close to that which we had in the 30s. That should scare the hell out of all of us. Draw your own conclusions. We hide our heads in the sand in "times of peace" under liberal rules and scramble to recover when faced with adversity. Next time, we will not have that the option or time to scramble. We can never and should never assume that we are ever truly at peace with the world. I. for one, still firmly believe in the deterrence policies we have advocated in past years.
