(continued) that someday the property would be sold and you get your investment back. Meanwhile you are getting a return on your investment (rent) which equates to a higher APR than having the money in the bank at less than 1% interest. Without tapping into savings we have enough cash assets to pay half of the cost of the property and the seller will hold the 5-year note at a 3% APR. The rent will cover the monthly payment and we have enough disposable cash easily to pay off the balance in one-year. The point is, not understanding the simplicity of investments leads to misinformation and misunderstanding. Some invest in businesses, others invest in savings accounts. Who typically gets the highest returns? The job creators - businesses!
It never ceases to amaze me how few democrats understand the simplest basics of investments. I recently had to remind my ultra-conservative accountant wife that investments are about return, not necessarily about cash flow. In addition to other sources of income, like a job, we are in the single-family house rental business and debt free. A recent opportunity arrived to purchase a house with acreage at less than half current market value. The 1600 square foot house is in good condition and the current tenants are two months into a 1-year lease. My wife's angry question is how does the investment do us any good, where is the CASH FLOW? When she calmed down I reminded her that real estate is an investment (continued)
Answer this question and you have the answer to just about everything. Has any government anywhere ever really fixed anything? Meaning, the solution or the beginning of any solution is to get government out of just about everything.
RE PhillupSpace: John, this time I must disagree with part of you analogy. While it is true that government payroll spending does return some of the money to the economy, it was first taken from the economy. Even if 100% of the money was spent and returned to the economy it would at best be a wash. With the few exceptions like the Postal Service that sells postage, government does not generate income therefore cannot contribute the economy. By IRS definition and accepted accounting practices, government is a non-income producing overhead expense to the private sector.
Oh, did I forget to mention that very few government employees pay taxes? The rare exception is the Postal Service that sells postage therefore generating some income, just not enough to cover expenses. The rest of government depends entirely on the private sector taxpayer.
John, correct me if I'm wrong, but Steve 138 said none of the TARP money went to bailout GM, you corrected him for 2008, but what about GM's first payment and probably last payment on their taxpayer funded government loan that was also paid with taxpayer funded TARP money? NO! I am not blaming Bush. Bush was saddled with a Veto proof congress and the best he could ever hope for is some semblance of a compromise. The liberals must love the blindfold game pin the tail on the Democrat (donkey) except with their rules... doesn't matter which end they pin the tail (blame); the face (Bush) is just as good as the butt (liberal congress),
You cannot be hypnotized by Obama so long as you continue to question Obama's decisions and motives. As long as working America keep buying guns and ammo, keep their religion, and disagree with Obama's policies America has a chance to survive and destroy Obama's Marxist plan. Socialism isn't about spreading wealth amongst the people, it is about spreading the wealth of the people to government which as outlined in Agenda 2i says government has the right to everything. History has proven that a religious war cannot be won. In the end, in spite of minor differences, Christians and folks with moral values will unite and win the war Obama wages against them. Stay prepared; keep your pantry full and your guns loaded.
Obama is about control and power, both of which require dependance. Creating a path that generates jobs is counter productive to control and power.
Looks to me like you forgot that Obama is only half black and 100% racist.

Gun control, just like prohibition and government attempted drug control, it does not work, in fact it makes matters worse. A simple solution for drugs is to take the money out of it, no money, no dealers and pushers. You cannot stop drug use but you can curtail drug use by reducing exposure ie no dealers and pushers and the less government says no the less the appeal to young people in particular. I can speak for myself and nearly all my neighbors, family, friends, most veterans and probably most active military will stop Government in any attempt to confiscate guns. Laws destroying the second amendment will not be tolerated by the working Americans that pay government salary and Unfunded entitlements.
