The Right Running Mate

Another solid Chapman article. But, you could tell that just by reading the angry comments. He would be disparaged on The Huffington Post in the same way, just from the opposite direction. I am grateful they publish him on TH, as he is practically the only writer who is that is not caught up in politics by hyperbole and character assassination. Even Michael Barone, who should know better, sometimes does it.

Chapman and his leftist pals at the Chicago Tribune practically dragged Obama across the finish line in 2008, and now he expects to be taken seriously as a conservative-libertarian? Not here he isn't. Seriously, Chapman is on the board of the Tribune, my hometown paper, and I know his work well. He is no conservative.
As he begins his search for a running mate, Mitt Romney needs to keep one question foremost in his mind, because the decision could affect us all for years to come. He needs to ask: Will this person be good for American comedy?

The prospective Republican nominee will have a tough time living up to recent standards. It's hard to imagine a Romney vice president who would inspire a story like the one in The Onion: "Shirtless Biden Washes Trans Am In White House Driveway."

Nobody is ever going to have a run like Tina Fey had with Sarah Palin. The chances...
