The last paragraph is the most important. In all the hulabaloo, the bottom line is that if it would help Republicans or Democrats, they would reverse their positions so fast that there would be cases of whiplash all over the country. That was the case with arguments made regarding Bush v. Gore, Terri Schiavo, Elian Gonzalez and even the Sup. Court gun cases. What matters to most partisans, is the result and that alone. Which is why I admire and give credit to those whose reputations are based on support from one side of the aisle when they use their platform to state the truth - both sides are at fault. Mr. Goldberg gets that credit today.

The evil genius of the Missouri congressman's comments is that they lend themselves to such broad interpretations -- and misinterpretations.

By now his remarks are familiar, but just in case ...
