Your Fair Share

Fair Share? ..... There is only one way to do so. Allocate the Federal spending equally among each citizen. Everybody pays a fare share. The math: .... Divide total spending for FY 2013 ($3.8 Trillion) by number of people (310 million). The result is about $12,000 per person. Everybody pays $12,000 per year. That includes all ages from infant through the elderly. No exceptions. What's wrong with that? Think about it. Who will vote for big spenders if they must pay and equal allocation of it? Fair is fair!

That is way, way too simplistic a thought process. If every person, of every age, was required to pay $12,000 per year, then my wife and I would have to come up with $36,000 per year for our three kids. Our total tax bill would be $60,000 per year. That doesn't even account for what I'm paying to the state (income tax) and the county (property tax). Plus sales taxes, licensing fees, etc. Your plan is insane.

I'm sure we agree that the government, at all levels, spends entirely too much money. The only input I have into that is my one measley little vote. There is no justification for making tax slaves out of my family. Instead of paying $60k a year in taxes I would spend $2k on ammo and dare somebody to come collect.

Hahahahaha. I love it. It makes so much sense, right? Oh yeah, until you try to develop a collection method for it. Go ahead, D.G., try to collect your "tax" by sending everyone a $12k bill, and see how far you get. You might actually get two or three people stupid enough to send it in....

You realize of course that this isn't 18th Century England, and we don't have debtors prisons because we don't actually incarcerate people in this country solely on the basis that they're poor. Just checking to see if we're living in the same country (cause sometimes I feel like we're not).

Evidently, you should thin some more. Your share of the spending is $12,000 per year. Same with all of your family members. Same with everybody you know. Same with everybody you do not know.

Could Uncle Sam possibly be spending way too much money?

Or do you actually think Uncle Sam should be spending an average of $12,000 per person?

sure we have debtors prison, it is called the withhold mechanism, whereby each person sends their money to the government first for the government to waste and redistribute to low life parasites

Correct post from "restoreliberty"

The IRS can be very aggressive.
Barack Obama doesn't think the rich are paying their fair share of income taxes. So what is their fair share?

I posed this question to Fox News commentator Juan Williams in Dallas the other day. "The top 10 percent of income earners are paying 71 percent of all income taxes," I said. "Isn't that enough?" Although Juan was trying to defend the Obama position, he didn't have an answer.

Then I turned the question around. "The bottom one-half of the population is paying zero, or close to zero, income taxes. What's their fair share?" He didn't have...
