Give it time, we have some very disturbing parallels between our current political and fiscal situation and the Weimar Republic of the late 1920's. We are about to head into hyper inflation as that's the only way to pay our Republic's debt remember we've borrowed nearly a third of the GDP estimated of the entire planet in the past few years. So our choices are going to be hyper-inflate the currency which hasn't happened yet as we're the reserve currency of the global economy. We won't be for much longer as Germany just tried to withdraw the 1600 tons of gold it has on deposit with our federal reserve and was told no they could only withdraw less than half that amount. All we need is a run on the fed and we're hosed.

Part of the problem is the fed has been using the gold belonging to countries like Germany, China, France on deposit with them as collateral for loans made to buy US securities for that Quantitative Easing they've been doing. So we've essentially sanctioned the Federal Reserve to embezzle the gold owned by other countries so it can buy back US Treasury bonds and certificates paying in for them with dollars borrowed using other people's property as collateral. Not to mention selling varying amounts of that gold to the point where there isn't a clear title to much if any of the gold held by the US as a reserve bank.
