Bagpipes are a weapon. They are meant to instill blood-curdling terror in the enemy, and ennobling pride and uplifting brotherhood in the home team. And oh, they do both things well. And it's good for Team Obama to spend money on bagpipes. This is one of the least likely expenditures to cause harm in the hands of the incumbent imbeciles. The call of the pipe just can't inspire people to quit their jobs and go on the dole and vote Democratic. They are ennobling and uplifting and *have* to make one want to vote for competent people. I guess the Democrats are buying them to take them out of circulation, to avoid just that.
Isn't it illegal to carry a gun in NYC?
That looked like amusement to me...not upset.
Still common in some places. I don't believe it was ever the norm in all societies, although you imply this. Those practicing it certainly didn't care if it was the "natural order" of things; just that they could accumulate wives because they were more powerful than other men. This left young men without wives, and with little hope for getting a wife anytime soon, and having large numbers of aimless young men about is not good for a society. They tend to break things. You can see this today in polygamist societies, which tend to produce terrorists as a byproduct.
I hope that as their sister you are doing everything you can, with gentle words, kindness, and love, to help them keep their vows to each other, understand each other, and love each other. As his sister, you are in a unique position to help your sister-in-law understand and love your brother. As a woman, you are in a unique position to help your brother understand his wife. This is what families are for.
You may have appeared to be referring to marriage, which is the union of a man and a woman intended to protect and provide for the children who may be born to that union.
It is not exactly politically correct right now to propose the huge tax cuts which would be necessary to limit the 1% to paying their fair share.
Gays only have children through heterosexual unions, whether real or manufactured.
Actually men in their 70s can father children. Women in their 70s generally can't get pregnant, although I think women in their 60s have given birth, with the help of modern science. Late 50s anyway. So it will probably happen for women in their 70s at some point. Nevertheless only heterosexual couples can provide a child with the requisite mother and father.

And, of course, once girls start thinking, who knows where it will end? Soon they'll stop being Left and think their way right over to the Right.

I pretty much think believing in anything is racism, to the liberal. At least when you or I do it.
