People of all stripes did, but the church as an entity firmly rejects all of Obama's teachings. You've heard of a RINO, We have a term in the Church- CINO. Or Cafeteria Catholic. Which, be the very definition of the word Catholic makes them NON Catholics.
So the party that believes everyone is capable of greatness is elitist, and the party that treats everyone like stupid children is for the common people? (We're from the government, we know better than you) I have to say, you probably don't know what it means to be conservative.
I think it can be traced back to the no fault divorce. SSM Proponents point out (rightly) that marriage isn't taken seriously by society at large (Britney Spears, etc.) and they are right. Marriage is a shell of it's former self. People get married for the heck of it, knowing they can get a divorce the next day. People get divorced because they are arguing, instead of working through it. So why (the argument goes) shouldn't gay people be able to have it since straight people don't take it seriously? Straight people do need to take it seriously to show that it means something. Repealing the no fault divorce is a start.

It is the same thing. The term Catholic was first applied in the year 107 in Ignatius of Antioch's Letter to the Smyrnaeans. Read Pliny the younger's letter to Rome or Iraneous's explanation of the mass.

Not surprising to me either. I didn't actually know the churches teaching on contraception until I was in my 30s.
It's nice to know you feel this way- there are people who truly hate it (Or more accurately, what they incorrectly think it to be)
Men aren't allowed to have babies.
There are some married priests- In our diocese there is one, a converted Anglican Priest. He doesn't think priests should be married.
Actually they did. If you read the Bible, it say's a few things- one with God all things are possible. God created everything, so I think this is within his grasp. Two read chapter 6 of the Gospel of John- he makes a big deal of explaining this. He lost a lot of disciples due to this. Plus- 1 Corinthians 11:27
Even though I know you won't care and are just trying to stir the pot, a quality Catholic is someone who applies Catholic teaching to their daily lives. Daily prayer /scripture study, forgiveness, trying to grow in Christ, charity, etc.
Or even better, Crisis. http://www.kansascity.com/2013/01/28/4034179/bishop-finn-airs-frustration-over.html
