The idea of a flat tax is fine, but setting everyone's income taxes to one rate does not magically make the Internal Revenue Code disappear. I would wager that greater than 95% of what is in the Internal Revenue Code deals with the definition of what constitutes taxable income, not the tax rates that are applied to it. I appreciate Mr. Armstrong's article but if he is serious about a solution, the focus should be not so much on a flat tax as much as it should be on what kinds of income are subject to the tax. Let the ox-goring begin!
