The next phase: The establishment of the private health care market for the rich and famous. Health care retainers will keep quality care on 24/7 status for the elites. Meanwhile, its single payer for the masses. In other words, Communist utopia! With no incentive or competition available, health care personnel will slowly devolve into robot-like workers that provide substandard care in a filthy environment. If you think this a fantasy, go to a VA hospital. Witness whether the staff shows empathy. Examine for cleanliness. Talk to the disgruntled patients. This experience is health care without incentive or competition. Enjoy it Obozo lovers.

You're describing what has happened in every country that instituted a national health service. A bloated, ineffective and expensive bureaucracy stumbled along as the only health care provider for the masses. People who could afford it still had to pay for the NHS, but used private providers at their own expense to get timely, quality care.

Apparently that is already a problem in England, where patients have even starved. The families of the patients have taken over feeding their loved ones and cleaning their rooms. Pity the poor ones who are forced to rely on the staff. Sounds rather third world to me, and is a direct path back to the 19th century hospital care.

Although I am politically opposed to Obamacare, I must take exception for your depiction of VA hospitals . While your description may be correct for some or even the majority, it definitely is not true in my experience. I have received treatment at the Dwight D Eisenhower VAMC in Leavenworth,KS since 1979. The hospital is ALWAYS clean and the staff I have encountered are caring, professional, and empathetic. I also have been treated for serious conditions at VAMC's in Kansas City and Columbia Missouri and they were also as good or better than any civilian facility I have encountered. A better example for your purposes would be many European or Far East countries.
