Why can't Mexico develop it's own industries and keep people employed so workers will not want to come here? They don't have all the environmental and safety rules we do so running a business should be easier. It would also help to keep them from coming here if no social services, other than a medical emergency, were given to them by us. No anchor babies either.

Let me say first I am against slavery but the south seceding from the union was legal. Nowhere in the Constitution does it say once states enter the union they can never leave. How was the south wanting it's independence any different from the USA declaring independence from Great Britain? What Sherman and other northern generals did to the south and Indians would be considered war crimes today.
In your last paragraph you said "murder of a police officer" as one of several instances calling for the death penalty. Why is their life anymore valuable than yours or mine? They chose that profession and the risks that go with it. The 14th amendment of the Constitution calls for equal protection for all under the law. All murder should be a capital crime. Anything less is manslaughter which is generally actions causing unintended loss of life.
Why is murdering a police officer considered worse than murdering anyone else and many times carries stiffer penalties. The 14th amendment calls for equal protection under the law. I have had two relatives murdered and feel their lives were as important as anyone else including police officers. Police have chose that profession and the risks that go along with it. Murder should be a capital offense regardless of who is killed.

Why Don Opposes Capital Rape

I disagree that castration would not deter raping again. The loss of testosterone greatly reduces aggressiveness. I certainly see less aggression in castrated animals. Also it is tragic that while the rapist is in prison the victim's tax dollars are supporting him.

The Gospel According to Don

I agree with the article about people wanting handouts turning liberal. I knew several people in college who smoked pot but still showed up for class and did the assignments. The man described in this article abused marijuana. Couldn't the same thing happen to an alcohol abuser?? Some people abuse food, i.e. morbidly obese.
Once someone has served their time, including parole, they should be able to vote. If they are working then they are being taxed. To not let them vote is taxation without representation. As for owning a gun my feeling is if they can't be trusted with a gun they should not be trusted to own a hammer, baseball bat, knife, drive a car or even be allowed in society. To answer the question before someone posts it, I have never been arrested much less convicted of a crime.
To paraphrase Milton Friedman, more harm has been caused by the war on drugs than drugs themselves. Around 60,000 people killed in Mexico since it started its war on drugs. Although it is poor judgement in my opinion to even smoke tobacco, people 21 or over should be able to choose for themselves as long as no one else is put in danger such as driving while under the influence. Legalize it and tax it like alcohol and tobacco, while also educating people about the dangers of it. Better than filling up our prisons as we do now.
I am not marijuana user or user of any illegal drug but I agree with Milton Friedman. Paraphrasing him 'more harm comes from the war on drugs than drugs themselves'. The millons of $ that are spent on the war, the lives that are ruined by being put in prison and in many cases for a disproportionately long time compared to violent crimes then having a record for the rest of your life. If people commit a crime while on drugs then it is their fault not the drugs. If someone is in their own home smoking pot and not going to drive it is not my business or the governments.

Abraham Lincoln said: "America will never be destroyed from the outside. If we falter and lose our freedoms, it will be because we destroyed ourselves."
