I would also add the DEA and the BATF. As I saw on a T-shirt the ATF should be a convenience store not a government agency.

John Stossel did an interesting television piece about oil company profits. In most states the profit is about six cents per gallon while the government gets about 48 cents per gallon. Seems like the government is the greedy one.

LoyalProg, Did you used to go under the screen name LoyalDemocrat?? You are a master at sarcasm. I love it.
These folks had rescued an abandoned fawn and were raided by 13 heavily armed government officials who then killed the deer. I feel so much safer knowing the government watches out for me by having an army of agents to stop this horrific crime.

In Parker01 comment at 7:10am he mentioned thought crime. That is exactly what a "hate crime" is. Murder or assault is what it says regardless of the motive. It is wrong that someone beating up a homosexual gets a longer sentence because it is a hate crime than some one beating up your grandmother.

Since your are now 76 I would be surprised if your high school U.S. History teacher is even alive. Hopefully he changed his opinion once we hit the disastrous LBJ presidency.

I agree with MoreFreedom's post at 10:43AM about the cost of incarceration, ruined lives due to an arrest record. Well, read it for yourself. As Dr. Walter Williams said: If we look to benefits only, we'll do darn near anything because there's always a benefit. The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration reported that there were 43,443 highway fatalities in 2005. If we had a maximum speed law of 15 mph, the death toll wouldn't be nearly as high, probably not even as high as 500. You say, "Williams, that's a crazy idea!" You're right, but let's not call it crazy; it's more accurate to say: saving some 43,000 lives aren't worth the cost and inconvenience of a 15 mph speed limit. More harm is caused by the war on drugs than drugs themselves. 60,000 dead in Mexico and who knows how many dead in the USA due to gang wars.
Why can't Mexico develop it's own industries and keep people employed so workers will not want to come here? They don't have all the environmental and safety rules we do so running a business should be easier. It would also help to keep them from coming here if no social services, other than a medical emergency, were given to them by us. No anchor babies either.

Let me say first I am against slavery but the south seceding from the union was legal. Nowhere in the Constitution does it say once states enter the union they can never leave. How was the south wanting it's independence any different from the USA declaring independence from Great Britain? What Sherman and other northern generals did to the south and Indians would be considered war crimes today.
