Debating Same-Sex Marriage

The reason traditional marriage advocates are losing is that they have failed to make the COMPENSATORY case for reserving marriage for het relationships. There are 1 1/2 million abortions per year. Not one is because of a lesbian act. Babies are left in dumpsters -- never due to a lesbian act. A woman can enjoy intimacy and ecstasy with another woman. Only after embracing a man will she wait anxiously for her menstrual period. Heterosexuality's special relationship to life creation means it has special risks and horrors. Thus, heterosexuals are entitled to compensation for risking these horrors.

Deniser67, you have a somewhat valid point. How many children are aborted, abandoned, discarded, thrown away, turned out, or banished every month? Let me say that again. How many children in this world are so unwanted that their parents decide it's better just to walk away? To me, that is the most vile and cruel thing that someone can do. "We don't want you!" is, to me, as evil a statement.

Why would anyone deny the chance for one of these children to experience a joyful and fulfilling life with loving parents? People who will raise them to be honorable and useful people?

Ohhhhh....that's right... the parents are gay and thus are invalid... better to stay in an orphanage...

Adoption may be necessary but let's take a realistic view of it. Adoptees are 2-3% of the population -- and 16% of serial murderers. They are also 15 times more likely than other people to kill 1 or both parents.

Re: "Compensation"
You are introducing a straw man, and using a semantic argument. There is only one true marriage; only with semantics can you say that there is a "traditional" marriage and, also another "marriage" that is non-traditional. True marriage has existed for 6,000 years. Homosexual "marriage" exists only in the minds of emotionally disordered people called homosexuals.

Ah, the "because I said so!" rule! One true marriage is what the government, which hands out the marriage licenses, determines what marriage is, and what it means and who gets to do it.

I think the emotionally disordered people are those that are obsessed with stopping legal same-sex marriage.

This week, the full 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals refused to hear any more arguments on gay marriage.

Appellate Judge Diarmuid O'Scannlain's dissent was scathing: "Based on a two-judge majority's gross misapplication of Romer v. Evans, we have now declared that animus must have been the only conceivable motivation for a sovereign state to have remained committed to a definition of marriage that has existed for millennia," he said. Worse, the judge went on, the decision overrules the votes of 7 million Californians based on an interpretation of Romer v. Evans that would be "unrecognizable" to those who wrote it.

Serendipitously, this...
