Imagine an old Haitian woman a day after the earthquake in January, 2010. She lost everything she had in the earthquake except a loaf of bread. She shares that loaf of bread with a family that has lost everything. Bill Gates donates a million dollars to a Haitian relief organization. Who gives more; the old woman or Bill Gates? What parable of Jesus would apply in this situation?

Once again, has no one ever told you that George W. Bush was President from January, 2001 through January, 2009? Has no one ever told you that the Speaker of the House was a Republican from January, 1995 through January, 2007? Has no one ever told you that Senate Majority Leaders were Republicans from January, 1995 through January, 2007? Have you ever heard of Trent Lott(R) or Bill Frist(R)?

The Republicans embarked on a 100 year social engineering project in Iraq. - NOT PAID FOR George W. Bush announced in a 'State of the Union' address, about five years ago, that "It's America's responsibility to bring peace, freedom and democracy to the world." The entire Republican House and Senate caucus's stood and applauded enthusiastically. Nation building and social engineering in far-away places is an expansion of government. - NOT PAID FOR In the fall of 2008, the Republican administration gave AIG an $85 billion taxpayer financed 'teat suck' before TARP was even passed - NOT PAID FOR

The Republican Party has broken many PROMISES. We conservatives missed the boat during the eight year George W. Bush 'Reign of Error' spending spree. The Republican Party oversaw a two and a half times larger increase in goob-mint than when 'Bubba' Clinton was president. The Republican administration gave airline companies a $17 billion taxpayer gift in 2001 after 9-11 - NOT PAID FOR. Republicans doubled the size of the Department of Education - NOT PAID FOR Republicans mandated ethanol subsidies. - NOT PAID FOR Republicans increased pork barrel spending from 3,000 to 14,000 annual projects. - NOT PAID FOR Republicans added another entitlement spending program. (Medicare Prescription) NOT PAID FOR

In fact, worse than that, then Republican party turned a healthy economy and government into a sick economy and dysfunctional government. Why would going back to them suddenly work now?

Many of today's conservatives like to boast that they give more to charity than the liberals do. How is this measured? Who gives more, a poor person who gives their last dollar or a billionaire who gives a million dollars to charity? What did Jesus say about this? How does one measure one's 'time' given to charity?
