I once had a crazy neighbor whom we thought was dangerous. She had threatened several people. I organized the neighbors and we went to court to have her committed. It was a long process. But we got it done. She was a threat to others and herself. Too many people just look the other way. I am not making excuses for this man. But if his family and friends did nothing to protect others ? They must share the blame.

You WENT TO COURT,meaning due process was followed, and no person was deprived of their rights without due process,no gov't official simply taking away your rights. you presented evidence and witnesses to show the person was not rational, and the court decided you were right. that's the LAWFUL way,the AMERICAN way.

OTOH,some folks here would have gov't officials able to take away your rights arbitrarily, just on their say-so.

A masked man dressed in black entered an elementary school today in Newtown, Connecticut and opened fire with two handguns, killing a reported 26 people, 18 children and 8 adults. The shooter is dead. Law enforcement is expected to hold a news conference shortly. We'll keep you updated.
