Todd Akin made foolish remarks, but he wasn't entirely wrong. And he did apologize for those remarks. BUT, the GOP quislings -- and many otherwise respected conservatives -- were all too quick in totally and completely villifying Akin in the same old pathetic tactic of trying to mollify the liberals and appeal to the uncommitted (and such grovelling worked oh so well in the past!), without ever trying to defend the basic truth of Akin's statements. Maybe this out of the bankrupt idea that social conservative issues are not only not important, but devisive. And maybe, under the excuse of not "maligning aggrieved parties", we will find ourselves being prodded to not offend anyone by standing up for what is right.
