There are two rational reasons to buy health insurance. Either you have a chronic health condition, or you are very nice. People don't realize how insurance works. Everyone in the village puts money in a big pot. Then when someone needs it, they take money out of the pot to cover their needs. But the rule was you only take money OUT if you had put money IN. So now that you are guaranteed the ability to take money out of the pot, regardless of having put anything in or not. There is no longer any financial incentive to put money IN. Besides, the amount of money required to be put "IN" is much more than it was in the past. And it is still cheaper to pay the tax, which, by the way, does NOT go into the pot, but into the government's pocket.
Racist is redefined, just like other words: gay, homophobe, marriage, choice... It now means you disagreed with someone who has no control over their temper and no solid footing on their position. Nothing more. Don't take it personally. By the old definition, anyone who would vote for a bill that would raise unemployment specifically in the black community would be considered racist. That would be Minimum Wage Laws which raise black youth unemployment every single time.
The Constitution said you had to be a landowner. They only wanted people with demonstrated intelligence and responsibility and they felt owning land proved that. I would argue that a GED or High School Diploma would serve a similar purpose today. And it would be harder to make up false identities.
If they are too stupid to get a photo ID, they are too stupid to vote.
My best friend ran for School Board in 1990 in Tallahassee, the capital of Florida. We went over the voter registration lists and looked at those who had voted in the previous election. There were people living IN MY HOME "still voting" who had moved out of state, personal friends who I KNOW weren't really voting there. People listed who were dead, non-existent, non-existent addresses, a dozen in a home.... It was obvious even then that voter fraud was a reality.

My theory is that we can give 100% of our money to Al Gore to stop Climate Change and the climate will change anyway. Gee, I'm smart!

Have they found anyone who can't get an ID yet? Or doesn't have one?

Ask a liberal what they hated about Bush. Then point out that whatever they hated about Bush, Obama is doing the same, only worse. But he's "justified" in doing it. Because Bush did it. Ow! My head hurts!

I agree. We should make crime illegal. Let's start at the top.

Doctor X, do you mean the graph that shows that CO2 goes up AFTER it gets colder? How does the Maunder Minimum fit into your evaluation of the earth's climate? I think the "intelligent liberal" is a nod to the number of liberal PhDs on college campuses: those who had mediocre SATs but stayed in school long enough and sucked up to enough professors to "earn" a PhD and start pretending they are good thinkers as well. Problem is, these self-proclaimed "smart" stuffed shirts didn't have to actually USE their thinking to do anything except train little sheeple. We need to stop worshiping PhDs and start believing those whose thinking has results in the real world. It may be "noble" to believe everyone should have as much stuff as everyone else, but the real world has shown it doesn't work.
And I have four kids in their 20s who each paid for college themselves. There are certainly wonderful, responsible, students out there, and I am glad you are one. But you didn't notice the ones with the overprotective parents getting shuffled through? When I taught college, I had a student demand an A from me because he wanted to go to med school. But he barely earned a B.
