I babysat in the sixties for fifty cents an hour. In the seventies, it was up to a dollar for a large family and because I was experienced. But when my kids came along in the eighties, the babysitters we could find insisted on five dollars an hour because that was minimum wage. Guess who couldn't afford to hire babysitters at that price? So we traded off with other moms or stayed home. The few times we had a babysitter and a date, we spent more on the sitter than the restaurant! So who won? Certainly not the babysitters. Instead of their five bucks an hour, they got nothing. True, they found some rich suckers who would pay that from time to time, but overall, there were a lot less jobs to be had.

That was one of the extracurricular activities at the Occupy Wall Street camps, wasn't it? That, and drugs, and destruction of personal property, and a few murders.

I WOULD agree, but I don't see the nutcases on the right doing these kinds of things. And they are pretty prominent on the left.

If people wouldn't answer the &*()% polls, then they wouldn't know how much they would have to cheat and it would be more obvious. Better yet, lie and say you are voting for Obama. If everyone did that, or even a large number, they wouldn't "have" to cheat so hard. In my district, fifteen percent of the voters who came to the polls "didn't" vote at all. Really? On my vote, the machine didn't pick up the vote and I had to backtrack to "catch" it before I hit confirm. I do NOT trust machines, even a little bit. If we must have machines, we need a paper trail as well.

But every time you raise taxes, unemployment INCREASES and they are more people plucking the goose. Lowering taxes works FAST. And raising taxes on the rich is ludicrous -- they just pay the accountants to find more loopholes. It's lip service. Why can't we close the loopholes? (Sorry, Romney/Ryan idea there...)

If bigots and racists don't belong in public office, can we jettison the one who said that the black man was innocent based on the color of his skin and before he heard any facts? Like the police in Connecticut and Trayvon Martin cases?
