Breastfeed or Else

Read the article. He is just outlawing free samples from the hospital and making sure that moms in the hospital are encouraged to nurse. No big deal. There is no outlawing formula or making it unavailable anymore than Romney is going to take away birth control from women. I HATE when columnists make mountains out of molehills, and exaggerate the headline knowing full well people won't read the fine print in the article. So wrong on the left AND the right.

Debbie, remember the saying -give an inch and they will take a mile! Bloomberg has a job to govern the mechanics of the city, not the personal lives of its citizens.

I have experienced their encouragement. The lactation consultants are obnoxious (the floor nurses actually think they are annoying in most cases, too). I have 4 kids and the last 3 were all born at the same hospital and no matter, it is the same annoying speech everytime. You could have 20 kids that were all breastfed and they still treat you like an idiot, so I feel real sorry for the mom's that can't or choose not too because some lactation consultant is going to get a black eye. They don't ask if you want to talk to them, they just come in and start telling you what to do. Outlawing free samples is one thing, but chastizing women for their choice on how to feed their child is asking for trouble.
New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg cares a whole, whole lot about what you drink. First he acted to take away your 32-ounce Big Gulp. But be aware you don't have complete latitude among non-sugary beverages. He also wants to take away your baby formula.

The old axiom says conservatives want to keep the government out of your wallet and liberals want to keep it out of your bedroom. On the latter point, Bloomberg begs to differ.

As long as you're having sex, he'll respect your privacy. If that sex produces a baby, it's a different story.

Bloomberg enthusiastically favors breastfeeding infants. But he is...
