I ran across this section in the bill and was disturbed by it. Although it is voluntary, number one, how many people would request this kind of intrusion into their private lives? Number two, once you request this "service," it looks like the government can evaluate if you need further marital or other "counseling" AT THEIR DISCRETION and then it may no longer be an option, i.e. Child Protective Services. This is very disturbing part of the bill that I think should be talked about more in the press than it is. Actually, the press won't talk about anything in the bill. Guess they are carrying out orders from their boss, the commander in chief.
Left Angle thinks we are all greedy. Well, as a self-employed "worker," I for one would actually benefit from Obama's Care, but the last thing I want for myself and my family is the government controlling my health care. The IRS already controls my pocketbook. And I'll bet there are many more out there like me.
Strange thing, but I have never had a run-in with any of my health insurance companies. My daughter was born prematurely and I never even saw a bill. She was in the NICU for 11 days. I'm sure it was over $100,000. At that time Prudential was my provider, and they and the hospital worked it out without any problem. Now that I am self-employed I have catastrophic coverage for me and my family, it's really cheap, $256 a month, but it works for us -- I just pay fee for service up to $5,000, maybe five doctor visits a year.

If I had to choose between an insurance company insuring me and the federal government, I would pick the insurance co. in a second. They don't care about my bank account information, they don't care about my...
