"President Obama, flanked by schoolchildren, said, '...when it comes to protecting the most vulnerable among us, we must act now.'" Was anything more hypocritical ever said than this?

Yes, he's said plenty of other hypocritical things in the past. He and many other politicians are quite adept at it. So I don't see why this should be a surprise to anybody.

Have heard, ad nauseum, the remark 'how has he lied'. And people are walking about that think he is grand, and his hypocrisy should be ignored. Millions. It would be a surprise to many a citizen, while many join him in his lies and hypocrisy, all for the 'greater good', mind you.

I don't think he's saying he is surprised, I think he was pointing out that it is a despicable behaviour, and he's right. It doesn't matter how prevalent a practice is, if it is contemptible it should be called out and scorned.

At last week's signing of "executive actions" designed to combat gun violence in America, President Obama, flanked by schoolchildren, said, "...when it comes to protecting the most vulnerable among us, we must act now."

There's no doubt that children, especially schoolchildren, are vulnerable to all kinds of threats, but are they "the most vulnerable," as the president claimed, or is there another category of human life that qualifies for that designation?
