Sex with animals, taking of a human life, sex with the wrong gender, and sex outside of legitimate marriage are all sins. Whether you want to call that "equating" is up to you.

Paul (the Apostle, not the Beatle) said that everything is permissible but not everything is beneficial. He cautioned that church administrators should respect the fact that many who do not understand should not be dissuaded or confused by actions of the clergy that contradicted common beliefs but that Any day may be celebrated, any food may be eaten, etc. You can only prove God right...what a system, I wouldn't have thought of it...thanks God.

"To someone else eating Pork is a Sin!"
"so are eating shellfish, wearing certain kinds of fabrics"

Ever heard of a little document called the "New Testament"?

"Of course we do not legislate based on whether something is a SIN"
So we don't legislate against murder based on the idea that it's wrong to murder? Thanks for clarifying... not.

Of course not every sin is illegal. Not everything illegal is a sin either, necessarily. Is legality the only measure as to whether something is wrong? You both seem to assume it is.

DCM, so are eating shellfish, wearing certain kinds of fabrics, taking the name of the Lord in vain, not respectign your elders, and believign in any God but Yahweh. I am pretty sure its a good thing that sin and illegal are not treated as the same things in America.

Two weeks ago I wrote a column encouraging churches to take a moral stand and make their voices heard as the Supreme Court deliberates the constitutionality of California's Proposition 8, which voters in my home state approved in 2008 to ban same-sex marriage.

I pointed out that the fight over Proposition 8 is not just about the legality of gay marriage; it's part of a larger effort by some factions to change the culture. In that context I wrote: "There is also a very slippery slope leading to other alternative relationships and the unconstitutionality of any law based on morality....
