if you're complimenting me, then thank you, sincerely. if you are making a judgment upon my non-use of capitalization, then i have no problem re-writing it. i'm not being a troll or snarky; this is just my writing style, and it can be hard on the internet to distinguish genuine commentary from snide attacks. ;)

except this nation wasn't formed under the belief in and allegiance to the christian god. do your research; america's religious identity was hijacked by fundamentalists long before any so-called progressives got hold of it. this nation was founded by men who despised theocracy and religious hegemony, and they fought to ensure that we would never be bound by it. in this country, you are free to worship god in your chosen manner. but thanks to jefferson (deist), washington (tolerant quaker), madison (personal christian but public libertarian) and others, you are NOT free to make me worship any god, or any way, that i don't want to.

amazing how people cry for a return to (their own version of) "god" in a nation whose most important founders were primarily deists. this nation never was "for god," at least not the god of the modern conservative right, whose followers have no parallel to any others throughout christian history; it was always intended to be a place free from religious oppression, the very thing america's founders fled from. now history comes full circle and we have prominent "god fearing" pundits screaming for a "return" to something that never was. they are so worried and angry about everyone else that they apparently forget to uphold the two greatest of jesus's commandments, especially the part about loving the lord with all their *minds*.
