Speedicut The Tea Party people are predominately simplistic thinkers if thinkers at all. I get a chuckle out of the ones who carry a copy of the US Constitution in their pocket but don't (or won't) think about things like the power to declare War by Congress. The last declaration of war was in 1941 by FDR. Congressional resolutions authorizing the president ISN'T a declaration of war as defined by the Constitution. If anything, the Tea Party crowd should be railing against Corporate Welfare programs like Farm Subsidies and Foreign Aid projects. But they don't because they're following the marching orders and Talking Points they get from the GOP Spin Machine. The burning issue of the day to them is Public Sector Union employees.
southern tom so what's "totally bogus"? That the Tea Party types chant "USA USA" at their rallies AND yell and scream about deficit spending at the same rallies? You mean you actually see the connection between deficit spending and military spending?
southern tom You're the Exhibit A on the simplistic mind-set of the average Tea Party person. - Minimally informed on issues and an avid Talk Radio listener.

Edmund Pevensie What about employee Political Action Committees (PACs)? An employee group (union) of people contributing to the political candidates of their choice. I'm shocked, shocked that this sort of thing is tolerated in America.

Blair, FDR and Meany didn't want collective bargaining for public unions because they knew that what would happen? FDR's concern was about strikes by public union. As you may know, striking is a contract violation for public union workers like police, firefighters, and postal workers. The penalty is automatic dismissal. Isn't that what Saint Ronald Reagan did to those PATCO workers in 1981? The real issue for the GOP Spin Machine is that Public Sector Unions are a source of campaign contributions to Democrat candidates. At least D*ck Morris is honest enough to admit to that. Meanwhile, no one in either party wants to address the social and financial costs of LEGAL and ILLEGAL Immigration on State and municipal budgets. Costs like...

Edmund Pevensie Public Sector Union workers are the new punching bag for the gullible, uninformed Talk Radio listener crowd. They never really think anything through to completion. Why isn't there any concern about the six-figure salaries of the school administrators like principals and superintendents? Because Rush, Hannity, Levin, et al never mention it to them.
The Sloandog at least those "educated lib elite" know better grammar than you do. Your sentences "they're enemies" and "they're inability" reads "they are enemies" and "they are inability". It's "their enemies" and "their inability". Spelling errors are understandable, but grammar errors on the differences between "they're", "there", and "their" is another story.
jake The John Birch Society has much more thoughtful and thinking people than the Tea Party does. You may disagree with JBS positions on issues, but I always felt they were correct on withdrawing from the United Nations. It seems the Tea Party types revel in their simplistic ways. There aren't really any serious thinkers in that crowd. They love to chant "USA USA" at their rallies, but yell and scream about budget deficits - never connecting the fact that deficit spending is financing the military.
