Jimmy Carter is an embarrassment to the nation and to the Naval Academy, from which he graduated. He is well beyond having been merely a bad President. He is acting disreputably as a former President. He is acting like a meddlesome old man who can't stand to sit outside the limelight he craves. He is looking for validation. He is not finding it.
He will not be judged gently by history. Even liberal friends are scandalized by the silly stuff that he spouts at every opportunity, especially when it demeans our great country.
He mollycoddles the worst of our national enemies. He panders to them. He finds virtue in their behavior. He celebrates what even the village idiots know is invalid, such as the "wonderful" health...

The Enablers of Charlie Rangel

I have said it before and I shall state it once more: there are not two more vigorous obstructions to racial harmony in this country than the NAACP and the black political establishment. L'Affaire Rangel is just the latest manifestation. The Democrats want to cover their own with sympathy rather than running them out on a rail, lest they incur the wrath of our only eternal minority, the black community, kept so by their oh, so solicitous black representatives in government. Disgusting!

Tort Reform: Remedy or Red Herring?

Tort law should be reformed. There is never an excuse for limiting the amount of COMPENSATORY damages that can be recovered. Recovery of what one loses is only fair. It is the PUNITIVE aspect of the damage award that is killing. That is where the attorneys get fat. Punitive damages should be awarded in only the most egregious cases. They should not be a huge windfall. Trials are pure theater, and the outcome too often depends on the acting skills of the attorneys irrespective of the evidence.
Should McDonald's have been stuck with that ridiculous award? Not in a million years! The woman was contributorily negligent. She knew how hot the coffee was simply by holding it and looking at it, and balancing it on her thigh,...
I am not persuaded that the voting public is sufficiently sophisticated to cast their votes in such a way as to keep the government control from residing in one party. My strong suspicion is most voters vote a straight party line. I have never heard a discussion among partisans of one party or another about how their votes will be split. A candidate must persuade the voter of his worth and it is my opinion that the voter will cast a vote for that Party as well.
"Social Justice" never stood for wealth redistribution. It never stood for the legalized theft by the Government of the property of some of its citizens. No one criticizes welfare to the needy. But no one encourages the maintenance of a class that will forever be on welfare. No thinking person in this country denies the basic greatness of it or its people. Only the dependent class as described above denies the virtues of the capitalist system, where the individual is limited only by his capacity for achievement and his willingness to strive for it. The Obama cabal refuses to acknowledge these basic facts. Therefore, to save the country, the Obama administration MUST fail.
