In response to:

Why No State, Including Colorado, Should Accept “Civil Unions”

The first thing to recognize is that, regardless of whether or not gays can marry, the same heterosexual couples are going to unite in marriage, crank out the same kids and sue for the same divorces. In other words, the only people affected by gay marriage are those thus wed and their children. On that matter, some two million children in this country are being raised by gay people; some by gay couples. Where possible, those children would benefit by having the security and stability afforded by married parents.

Something tells me that when homosexual marriage and adoption are part of the warp and woof of our society, there will be lots of lawyers making a killing on suing institutions that made it possible for their clients to grow up B@%%%ered, like Frank Lombard's poor kid.

And, I'm ready to bet that when some dutiful teacher reports that he thinks little Johnny is abused (something the law requires us to do), he'll find himself sued as a "hater" because little Johnny is being raised by two pseudo-daddies who happen to belong to a favored client group of the Left.

The people affected are those who do not wish personally to encourage same-sex marriage. When a same-sex couple wants a photographer for their "wedding", if the photographer refuses they can (and have) sued for "discrimination". Same goes for churches that host weddings and receptions, adoption agencies, musicians, etc.

New Mexico - IIRC. This one silly incident has been cited for years. It has nothing to do with marriage since New Mexico is not a marriage equality state. Your problem is with how New Mexico defines a public accommodation. It should not include the hapless photographer.

I'll bet that, in the '60's, before Loving v VA (which was ENTIRELY faith based) people made the same excuses. Imagine if, today, someone refused a service to an interracial couple.

Too bad. Gay Pride lived to be forty but is officially dead now. I never though
I'd see the day when homosexuals would frantically beg for the straight label.

Note: This testimony was provided to the Colorado House Judiciary Committee on May 3, 2012 concerning Colorado S.B. 002, a proposed “civil unions” bill.

Well-meaning folks, including legislators, who oppose redefining marriage, yet support civil unions and domestic partnerships for same-sex couples, do so with the mistaken belief that both sides of the marriage debate will be satisfied with this apparent compromise. In practice, however, neither side is happy. And more importantly, as a legal matter, civil union laws absolutely undermine the case for marriage.

Make no mistake about it; a vote for this bill is a vote for same-sex “marriage.”...
