Like most liberals, your only tactic is to slur and call names. You understand nothing, but to begin to give you a clue ... if we were fascist you would not be calling us names.

I was voting and paying attention back in the 70s. Newt was a strong conservative. People say they want somebody who will make waves, but they will not support such a person so they get what they deserve. Newt ticked off the Republican establishment by pushing change and he certainly made enemies on the left. As a reward for fighting to make Congress do its job, he was attacked by the left and abandoned by the right. All the stupid vote bullets designed to show that Newt is not conservative fail to address the context. They do not tell thee story, and also ignore the events and topics that were most important during those times. They also ignore the political reality of trying to get anything done in congress.

They have sustained and strengthened Federal Dept of Education. Biggy ... when faced with a serious national security problem, 911, rather than fixing underlying problems in existing Federal police, they create an entire new Orwellian Federal bureaucracy - Department of Homeland Security. I could keep going. I think the biggest problem though, is that they never stand up against liberal socialist ideals, they tolerate and even embrace much of it.

Yes, and problems with FBI and CIA intelligence capabilities. Nothing to do with DoD for goodness sake

Nice insights thanks and hang in there. I've been a conservative voter, paying attention since the 70s. I know what I have seen and hate the onslaught against your father. He is exactly the man we need right now.

Good article, and good ones in the replies. I was voting and paying attention through all these years, so I appreciate Newt's skill and conservative principles. Ironically, most of the people shouting him down as a RINO, care little to do any homework ... trusting that their myth perpetuation is helping. So is it possible for Newt to overcome the onslaught?

Yes, it is a shame. I remember Nixon and Newt. I also remember that piece-of-work LBJ ... oh and Carter. Newt's made some mistakes, but is a very competent fighter for conservative government. Seeing him get treated this way is disturbing. Maybe we deserve to have the Republic flushed under liberal socialist control. Makes me sick.

Thanks. Romney ran an Olympics. Not saying his business experience is not helpful, but 1) we are not digging to see what mistakes he made while doing that 2) Being President requires the kind of experience Newt has, and not so much Romney's experience. Besides, I want somebody who will fight, I am tired of all the pandering to the left, who have nearly destroyed our Republic.

Very good Jeff. I for one and so fed up with where our Country is at right now, that I am itching for a fight. Maybe it is just me, but somehow I think many American's feel the same. Maybe, as with Churchill, Newt is the man for the hour.

My favorite Ann quote: "Conservatism is an electable quality. Hotheaded arrogance is neither conservative nor attractive to voters." Just funny coming from Ann Coulter of all people. I liked Ann precisely because she was hotheaded and arrogant :) Character is anyone's guess and I know that I sure don't know based on the slobber the media publishes for political reasons. What I do know, is that Newt has proven to be an effective and capable politician who can and will take the fight to the left. Romney is a capable private industry manager who is running to be a capable politician. Both appear to be capable people and probably good men. Newt is hands-down the most qualified to move a conservative agenda forward.
