Mr. Medved, Did you read the judge's decision? It carefully responded to each of your points and with legal precedents. Your reasoning is on a par with the defense put forward by the Prop 8 proponents - it's wrong, it's not the way we've done things before, God wouldn't like it. Civilization does evolve. That's why we banned slavery and male only voting to name two examples. Why? Because it wasn't right. And discriminating against people because of who they are is not right, either. The current system may work for you so long as you're reasonably healthy. However, others have found their insurance denied them coverage due to obscure pre-existing conditions, and other fine print tactics. Private insurance is in business to make a profit first. Yes, the plan may pass. At least I hope so. But that's the prerogative of the party in power. I don't believe that it will be the end of our way of life though. And anyway, 2010 comes soon. If enough people are upset, more Republicans will be elected.
