Our whole War on Drugs is political. The DEA, local police, everyone one involved in enforcement abuse and exploit the laws for ego. Checkout The Lynching of Charlie Lynch on Netflix and you'll witness the worst humanity has to offer posing as law enforcement and prosecutors. It's time to end the non-sense. Unfortunately most that proclaim they want government out of their lives, have little courage when it comes to demanding it with their vote. Alcohol, tobacco and prescription drugs kill more people than all other drugs combined. The War on Drugs cost taxpayers trillions and the addiction rate hasn't changed since most drugs were outlawed. Even innocent people have died and civil liberties abused under the War on Drugs.
President Bill Clinton used his presidential pardon power in July 2000 to commute the sentence of Serena Nunn, who was sentenced to 15 years for a first-time nonviolent drug offense when she was 19. The pardon shaved three years off Nunn's sentence. Nunn told me over the phone, "I thought then that it was a great thing that a president used his power to help an average person."
