"Transitional forms" is a misnomer, because change occurred in billions of tiny increments over millions of years. The fossil record clearly shows species departing from one another over time. Creatures don't "turn into" one another, but they adapt to their different surroundings and the different predators to become completely different species. We are closely related to chimps, even though we're nothing like them. Our sun is only halfway through its life, so experts say that by the time the sun dies, the species on earth will be as different from us as we are from an amoeba.
