Good piece. I agree with this. Of course it is a generalization. We all know that. But yes, many LIBs, especially the ones who are rabid political wonks, are miserable people most of the time. And they are animated by spreading that misery. The reasons you point out are true. But the main reason, imo, that LIBerals tend to be unhappy, is because they bought into the lies and empty promises that they were fed from an early age. Once they realize that there is no Utopia on Earth, they get mad...sad...jealous...angry...miserable. And that's where most of them stay, mad at the "injustice" that life is not fair and that freedom allows for success and failure. That's just NOT FAIR!!!! So they seek to limit freedom. Freedom isn't fair.

Don't get me wrong. Not every conservative has a winning personality and not every liberal is a toothache in search of a mouth to inhabit. In fact, one of the single nicest people I know is a liberal (Hi, Julie Joyce!) Yet and still, it's not a reach to say that most liberals, especially the ones that are politically active, are just generally difficult to get along with.
