If we want an effective choice, we must change the voting paradigm from the broken, one voter, one vote, 'first past the post' paradigm, to either http://rangevoting.org/ and/or http://www.fairvote.org/instant-runoff-voting# While I don't consider libertarianism as having all the answers, I emphatically believe they have a great deal to show us all. They must be invited to the national debating forums, rather than mocked and ridiculed and excluded from the MSM polling. I am one of those wacky people who believe people own themselves. That the right to be left alone is pretty much an absolute. That people should think and take action that serves their own self interest while respecting other people's similar boundaries. For this I am often called an elitist. Rather than rule by Philosopher Kings, I believe in each of us practicing ruling ourselves, and I would advise that each of us be well satisfied if we can rule our own life well.
I have to side with the theory that Ron Paul's Campaign Staff didn't have any true faith that the Liberty message could be made palpable to America. Here is my Monday Morning Quarterbacking. I was constantly encountering comments like "Ron Paul is great,.... except for his foreign policy." When I would tell them that Ron Paul's biggest campaign contributors were retired and enlisted servicepersons, while the single biggest contributor to Obama/Romney's campaigns was Goldman Sachs, they would be stunned! The MSM never said any such things! How could they be true. When I point them to Michael Scheuer (http://www.ronpaul.com/2011-12-30/iowas-choice-dr-paul-or-u-s-bankruptcy-more-wars-and-many-more-dead-soldiers-and-marines/) they are absolutely flommoxed. There were organizations like "Veterans for Ron Paul" and Michael Scheuer had formally endorsed Ron Paul, but it was Ron Paul's campaign staff's responsibility to get these people in front of the MSM. They didn't. And the MSM largely ignored these devastating rebuttals to the Neo-Cons who would misrepresent and mock Ron Paul throughout the Republican Primary Season. I think we could have won, even handily, if the campaign staff had had confidence that the public could be persuaded that only Ron Paul supported the troops!!
