Faith Crucial to Life and State

Honestly, WHO CARES any more? In America, *LIBERTY* means pretty much being able to do what you want, so long as it does not infringe on the rights of others. That means I can skip Church, make fun of God and create offensive Facebook pages, have 18 girlfriends, have a married girlfriend, watch some porn, get married 3 or 4 times and divorce for any reason I want ect. And there's not a single thing anyone in this country can do about it. THAT is America. A truly beautiful vision where the Government stays out of people's personal lives, *conservative or liberal*. We can all live any way we want, with no need of a fake man in the sky.

Yes, a society has become uncaring about what made it great. But don't let that stop you from egging it on in that direction, lest it frown upon some liberty you'd like to take without interference.

Yes, you can do every one of these things under our laws. The difficulty is that you can't "do what you want" without inevitably "infringing on the rights of others". Neither you nor anyone else has ever been able to do that; nor will you ever succeed at doing it. The very reason societies have made laws from the very beginning is because people inevitably abuse each other; this society is no different.

The column isn't about the laws of the United States, but rather the content the people's character, and what that produces over time.

I know you don't believe the "fake man in the sky" cares about you, but He does. Have you ever tried to know that for yourself, rather than just listen to what other folks say?

People don't have to abuse each other. Take some responsibility; our society is successful because we've learned to use proper standards of judgment, and one of the features is that we don't believe in your imaginary friend just because you have a book. If you don't have any evidence for your beliefs, then you are just making things up, also known as _lying_.

It's time for this country to get back to the religious principles of it's founders?

But that means the Christians should convert to Deists!

Talk about over simplification! Even the so called Deists you allude to realized that the religious principals that this country were founded upon are absolutely crucial to a civil society. You are certainly free to believe and act how you want, so long as it does not infringe on my right to do the same thing; but give credit where credit is due

"Here in the hall, she casts an unlikely silhouette -- unassuming in a lineup of proud stares, challenging us once more to look up and draw strength from stillness."

Speaker of the House John Boehner was referring to the new statue of Rosa Parks in the Capitol's rotunda.

Boehner told a Washington crowd about how Parks' strong religious faith bolstered her at every turn, and gave her the quiet yet steely courage necessary for the tough civil-rights battles that she fought, and which ultimately changed the face of American society.

"Humility isn't incompatible with bravery," Boehner reflected. "When we put God before ourselves ......
